5 HELPFUL HINTS:
1) Your teams can have no more than 5 students on a team. Please
see Mrs. Reese if you would like to join a team. You may select your own team members (minimum 2 members per team).
2) A Google search is a good way to find ticker symbols.
3) If you have questions about the online trading account,
click on the circled letter i, which stands for
information, at the top of each portfolio page. It explains everything
on that page.
4) When entering a trade, click on VALIDATE TICKER to
be sure it is the correct ticker for the company and for other current
info. Trades CANNOT be cancelled.
5) Please be sure to review the basic Rules of the SMG. They can be
found under the RESOURCES pull down menu of the online trading
account.
Here are 5 More Helpful Hints!
1) The stock market is open from 9:30 - 4 Eastern Time.
2) TRADES ENTERED WHEN THE MARKET IS OPEN
Teams receive the price of the stock when the trade is entered. The
trade is processed into the account overnight. It passes through
PENDING ORDERS very quickly. It is then recorded in TRANSACTION NOTES. It should appear in ACCOUNT HOLDINGS the morning after the trade is entered.
3) TRADES ENTERED WHEN THE MARKET IS CLOSED
Teams receive the first traded price the next morning that the market is open. It is processed that night. For example, a trade entered at 5:00 PM Monday receives the first traded price on Tuesday. It is processed and entered into Account Holdings very late Tuesday Night. Students will see this trade Wednesday morning.
4) If the trade does not appear in ACCOUNT HOLDINGS, check TRANSACTION NOTES for more information.
5) The Net Cost Per Share on the Account Holdings page includes a 1% commission fee.
